What is the unit of length in the SI system?

In the International System of Units (SI), the standard unit of length is the meter. The meter serves as the fundamental building block for measuring distance and is used in a wide variety of contexts, including science, engineering, and everyday life.

The meter was originally defined in the late 18th century as a fraction of the Earth's circumference, but it has since been redefined based on the speed of light in a vacuum, which provides a very precise and reproducible standard.
